Well I’ve hit 26 weeks today and I have to admit that I feel
huge!! My back is killing me and I wake up every 3 hours at night to use the
bathroom. Oh the joys of pregnancy!
Last month I felt like October was so far away and I had
plenty of time to get things together before our little girl came, but now I’m
feeling like its crunch time. I know I have many weeks left, but September is
going to be a crazy month with my shower and baby classes and I don’t want to
have anything planned for October.
So, I’ve made a list of things that I need to get done
before the baby comes. I know that many other mothers have made lists and put
them on the web, but this is what I feel should be done. Let me know if I’ve
missed anything!
- Wash all the new and hand-me-down baby clothes I’ve gotten. I can’t express how grateful I am for everyone just showing up with tubs and tubs of baby clothes. I know that babies grow so fast and buying new items can get extremely expensive. Wash and putting away all the baby clothes is a top priority at this point.
- Put together the crib, changing table, swing, etc. This will have to be the man of the house’s job. I will say that I could probably put them together, but I know that he enjoys doing things like that and it will make him feel more involved with the pregnancy.
- Diapers! Making sure I have enough diapers and wipes on hand for when baby comes home. I don’t want to have to make a trip to the store with a newborn to get diapers and wipes if I can help it!
- Making sure the car seat bases are installed in both of the vehicles. Most families have two cars these days, so we had to get a second car seat base for out little one.
- Sanitizing the bottles, nipples and pacifiers is very important. Germs creep me out! I always make sure that everything is washed that comes from a store, but when it comes to a baby, this is extremely important. I’ll probably end up doing it twice!
- Packing the hospital bag is something I’ll do closer to delivery. I will need to make sure that I have everything that I need, plus clothes and items for our new little one.
- Start filling out the baby book and remember to pack that was well. We have a baby book that has a place for little feet imprints, which I’m sure most of them do!
- Daycare! I have to be honest in saying that I’ve had the hardest time finding daycare. Just nervous about leaving my little girl in someone else’s care, but I know that things will fall into place.
- Maternity leave – making sure that I have everything set up for my maternity leave is important. I want to keep my employer in the loop with my pregnancy in case I decide to come back early or need more time.
- Lastly, taking time for myself! I know that once baby comes, I’ll have no free time so I’ll be taking these last few weeks to enjoy my freedom.
